Website Design and the internet is always changing. As with most assets in your business, your website will need maintaining and should be given a high level of attention.
Like a car, your website needs fuel to function, and regular servicing to ensure it stays up to date and maintains its ranking with Google
Even more so at this present time, we are living in a digital world, so your website design should be fresh and up to date and portraying your business to stay ahead of your competition.
Here are a few tips on things you can do to keep your website up to date.
1. Update the security of your website.
You may remember we discussed SSL and how important that was to websites. You may not realise that this was back in 2014! and yet there are still some sites without SSL. Google takes the security of websites and its consumers very seriously. If you want to find out more, read this handy guide from Neil Patel. If you need help implementing SSL onto your website, Frankman can guide you through this process, just get in touch.
2. Is your website mobile friendly?
Another plus for Google is that your website is responsive. This means that it adapts its layout and adjusts itself automatically, to look accurate on the wide variety of mobile devices now available. Up to 80% of users used a mobile device to search the internet in 2019, with 40% of online transactions are done using a mobile device. (source). Despite these figures, there are still a huge number of websites that are not mobile-friendly. Don’t risk losing valuable visitors to your website. 3. Updating the content of your website.
Content is King, and we really mean that! Your website is nothing without any content. Without any new content, Google is going to forget it too. Website crawlers revisit your site very often, and if they find new content, they love it, so much so they plan a return visit really quickly. If they find new content again on their next visit, then they love it even more. You can see how this would work if you are not giving them any new content for your website.
Yoast has written a great guide here, to highlight how important it is to keep your website content fresh and up to date.
4. Refreshing your website design
Are you guilty of having out of date photos on your website? perhaps your meet the team page has images of people you don’t recognise? or photographs of your premises with old signage? Take the time to update these small areas of your website and it will instil confidence in your brand and show clients, as well as potential clients, you are serious about taking care of your business, and in turn, them. Whilst you are there, take a look at your website design, along with your competitor’s website designs and layouts. Is it easy to navigate? does it reflect your brand image? Is your brand image reflecting the desired image you wish to portray?
